21 Lessons for the 21th century
By Yuval Noah Harari, ISBN 9781784708283
In his well-known ironic way, Harari describes the current situation in the 21st century, as well as his expectations for the future of — of course — 21 current topics. This book gave me many new insights. But it also raised many questions, such as “how to deal with AI and algorithms”.
His central message is the danger of the amalgamation of biotechnology and information technology. The consequence of this development could be, writes Harari, that intelligent biological organisms (such as humans) could be overtaken by their own creations. He puts it this way: “I do not rule out the possibility that humans, as we know them today, may disappear within a century”.
